After defeating St. Polten 4-0 and Slavia Prague 2-0 away from home in their first two Champions League matches, Wolfsburg breezed through the competition.

These outcomes enabled Wolfsburg to start the 2022–23 campaign with a run of 11 straight wins across all competitions before they were forced to settle for a 1–1 draw with Roma.

Valentina Giacinti gave Roma the lead in the first minute, and Ewa Pajor drew even in the 33rd, but neither team was able to score in the second half.

Tommy Stroot’s team has defeated Koln 4-0 and sailed to a comfortable 5-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt since drawing with Roma.

On Thursday, Wolfsburg will try to win their third straight match to improve to 14-0 in competitive games this season.

Roma, meanwhile, has not yet suffered a defeat during their inaugural Women’s Champion League campaign, and their strong play has put them in position to advance to the knockout stages.

Roma’s journey to Europe began in the qualifying rounds, where they had to defeat three opponents, including Paris FC in a penalty shootout.

Roma appeared to be on the verge of suffering their first Champions League loss when they fell behind 2-0 in their away match against St Polten after opening the group stage with a narrow 1-0 victory over Slavia Prague, but they showed great resolve to fight back and secure a thrilling victory.

In addition to being six points ahead of Juventus at the top of Serie A, Alessandro Spugna’s team proved they belonged on the European stage by drawing with the German champions on matchday three.

Roma will want to maintain their momentum as they try to extend their unbeaten streak to 16 games across all competitions as they chase their first Serie A championship.
